He also owned a marketing company in where Kim first worked. Kimââ¬â¢s parents always told her ââ¬Å"I will buy you nice things, but once you turn 18 you are cut offâ⬠(KimKardashian). At one point Kim asked him for some money to buy shoes off the internet in which she sold to people she knew making profit. People these days are greedy and only care about themselves so to see her help the less fortunate says a lot about her. Also, to see her model as a woman with curves lets every girl know that you do not need to starve yourself to be gorgeous your curves are what make you gorgeous (Top25). Not only does she do for herself but for others around her, many people only do one or the other so to see her do both gives people hope that there are still caring individuals i n todayââ¬â¢s society. In the end, seeing other people succeed like Kim has inspires people that anything is possible, you can be whoever you want and do anything you set your mind to. Everything Kim has, she has from her own success. She doesnââ¬â¢t sit around waiting for people to do something for her she does it on her own. Purpose and History of Penitentiaries Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Purpose and History of Penitentiaries - Essay Example In tandem with this assertion, it is evident that a prison was rarely used as a type of punishment. The local prisons held men and women, boys and girls, murders and debtors collectively. During that time, prisons were also poorly maintained and were mostly controlled by inattentive prison warders. Most of those held in the prisons died of diseases such as gaol fever (Koritansky, 2011). The most relevant innovation during this time was that buildings of the prototype house of correction. Most of the individuals held in the cells were vagrants, petty offenders, and disorderly poor locals. Before the end of the seventeenth century, they were absorbed in the prison system, and it fell under the control of local justice of peace. The 18th century was characterized as the time of ââ¬ËBloody Codeââ¬â¢ and the death penalty faced immense opposition and jurors were declining to give judgments that could lead to the execution of offenders. By mid-18th century imprisonment and hard labor was one of the best types of punishment for petty offenders. Transportation was also used as an approach of disposing of convicted people. However, towards the end of the 18th-century transportation was curtailed, and other sanctions had to be found. Some of the most prominent alternatives were house of correction and hard labor. This led resulted in utilization of prison hulks between 1776 and 1857 (Roth, 2010). In 1777, John Howard harshly criticized the prison system since it was filthy, barbaric and disorganized. This prompted him to call for reforms that entailed installation of paid staff, proper diet, outside inspection among other needs for convicts. However, other penal reformers felt that prisoners need to suffer but it should not grave impacts on a convictââ¬â¢s health. The Penitentiary Act of 1799 elucidated that the gaols need to be constructed for one inmate per cell (Roth, 2010). During the first half of 19th century, there was a watershed in state

Discrimination and Racism against foreign immigrant people in United Essay
Discrimination and Racism against foreign immigrant people in United States - Essay Example These data were collected from 2508 randomly selected adolescent immigrant children between 12 to 18 years age. The study could not find statistically significant relationship either between citizenship and discrimination, or between knowledge of English and discrimination, nor could it find any statistically significant relationship between discrimination and education expectation of respondents when controlling for age. In the US, as the administration struggles to contain racial discrimination, cross-border terrorism had added new dimension to it. Many miles may have been covered from that ugly day, when the U.S. Supreme Court in 1896 in the case of Plessy v. Ferguson, held that ââ¬Å"racially segregated railway cars were both constitutional and reasonable did not violate the rights of Blacks. The majority opinion of the court stated, Laws permitting, and even requiring, their separation in places where they are liable to be brought into contact do not necessarily imply the inferiority of either race to the other, and have been generally, if not universally, recognized as within the competency of the state legislatures in the exercise of their police power. The most common instance of this is connected with the establishment of separate schools for white and colored children, which has been held to be a valid exercise of the legislative power. Legislation is powerless to eradicate racial instincts or to abolish distinctions based upon physical differences, and the attempt to do so can only result in accentuating the difficulties of the present situation. If the civil and political rights of both races be equal, one cannot be inferior to the other civilly or politically. If one race be inferior to the other socially, the Constitution of the United States cannot put them upon the same plane. (Birnbaum and Taylor, 2000, p.166-67; cited by Boston & Nair-Reichert, 2004, p.113). This infamous verdict caused much racial disenfranchisement, which

Extending Business Hours in Australia :: Argumentative, Persuasive
In South Australia, the business hour is shorter than other places in Australia, such as Sydney and Melbourne. Some people states that the business hour is long enough to them in South Australia and extending business hour would raise social problems, such as social security and state budget. However extending business hour benefits a lot for South Australia. It can create more economic profits and is good for the whole society. The main argument against the extending business hours that is increasing trading hours will lead to many problems, such as social security and state budget. To extend shopping hour means criminal rates would rise rapidly. The reason is that people who shop at night may be threaten by the criminals and drunkards. It considers serious for people who lives far from the shopping centre and goes home by public transport at night, especially for young ladies. To solve the problems, the government of South Australia would require more police officers to keep environment safely. Moreover, the state has to pay amount of money to train and employ more police officers. There are not sufficient state budgets to support the issue. Therefore, it is not necessary to add the business hours in the South Australia. It is obvious that both community and the government would face the problems, particularly, those who live in poor areas. Nevertheless, the rising of tax from both companies and employees would be able to support the security problems. Additionally, extending business hours would create more job opportunities and people are able to earn more money from extra hours. Furthermore, it is possible for the government to develop the public facilities from the taxes. Initially, from economic point of view there some advantages will be grabbed. For instances, more job options will be available. Furthermore, there is some part-time and casual job vastly vacant. Fulltime workers will also gain more money since the payment hourly. At the same way, the stores that stay up late will also get the same chances, to earn more money, as fulltime workers. The most important considerable by extending business hours, it will open a broad chance for international investors to come to South Australia. Consequently, all the matters that have mentioned above will benefit the government by earning more taxes. As the result, it will raise up living standard and better public facilities in South Australia.

Rising Cost of Education
There was a time when a person from a low income family could believe he or she could attain the American dream without going to college. My eldest brother began working at Chevy in 1969; he was 16 years old, and he retired from Chevy in 2005. When he retired he owned three homes, three cars (one was a race car he built) a Harley Davis Motor cycle, a huge mobile home and he boasted more than $100,00. 00 in the bank. He continued to live in Detroit until he died in 2011. The only problem my brother had was that he could barely read or write. Thirty years ago, a young person could work at a McDonalds, over the period of two years they would become a Team Lead, and a year or two later they could be a Shift Manager. In a period of seven to ten years from the time this kid started, they could manage their own store. I did this and it only took me three years. I left food service because one day I wanted to Mickaole Walden, Ph. D. or M. D. I was going to be an engineer, but being assaulted and left with a brain injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ended my military carrer; it took me twenty years to accept that I no longer had an IQ of 137. It was made clear to me very early I had to go to college. I first was told by my father that since he taught at N. I. T, The National Institute of Technology in Dallas, Texas that we would not have to pay for my college degree. Later, when I got a poor grade in Math Theorem, I decided to go into the Military to get funding for school. I have known many people who went into the military as a catalyst for education and funding for college. Today, having a way to finance ones education is as essential as higher education itself. The inequality in education is evident. At the time Sociology in Modules was written only 11 percent of kids from low income families received a degree, this is compared with Children from families in the top five percent Income level which were at 53 percent. After children from poor families enter college weather they graduate or not, they are usually left with the burden of financial aid debt, (Schaefer 2011). Having a way to pay for higher education was not an issue that concerned me or my Pops with him being an Educator, and after I completed military service and having access to the GI Bill. It was not until my daughter graduated high school that financial aid became an issue. I am currently paying off a loan for my daughter after she dropped out of Clark. She is now attending Georgia Perimeter College. I have nearly cleared one of my bank accounts to keep her in school until we can take out a loan or get a grant. Today, helping my young adult daughter attain grants and loans is painfully important. My daughter could not care less because her fiance is financially secure and I am funding her education. She doesnââ¬â¢t understand the importance of having her own source of income even if she does not need it right now. Earlier this year she and I were looking through a travel guide, she wanted us to take a one week vacation in Jamaica, (she works less than full time as a waitress). She truly suffers from false consciousness. Education is more than ââ¬Å"The knowledge or skill obtainedâ⬠(American Heritage dictionary 2001). Education is an opportunity for vertical mobility. Education is a chance for greater socioeconomic status. In order to gain knowledge, skill and a level of greater earning potential, you have to be able to pay for higher Education.

ââ¬ÅSuicide Rates Among Inuit Are Shockingly High At Six To
ââ¬Å"Suicide rates among Inuit are shockingly high at six to 11 times the Canadian average. In Nunavut in particular, 27% of all deaths since 1999 have been suicides. This is one of the highest suicide rates in the world, and it continues to rise, especially among youth.â⬠(ââ¬Å"Aboriginal Mental Healthâ⬠:2015) Canadian Inuit are experiencing a suicide epidemic which has presented itself as a quite pervasive issue. This issue is prevalent on a grand scale yet, at the same time, not many people in the Western hemisphere are aware of its crippling effects on Nunavut, Canadaââ¬â¢s adolescent Inuit population. Nunavut is a region in Canada which located in the northernmost part of the country and receives drastic changes in the amounts of sunlightâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Furthermore, historically, the Canadian government has implemented intervention programs that have been unsuccessful due to their lack of cultural know-how and population-level approaches. Physical and Biological Factors The Canadian Arctic region of Nunavut hosts dramatic fluctuations in seasons and, most importantly, fluctuations in the amount of sunlight available due to their Northern-most geography (ââ¬Å"Nunavut FAQââ¬â¢sâ⬠: 2017). Suicide rates among the Canadian Inuit population, particularly among adolescents aged 15-24, in the region of Nunavut are exponentially higher than that of Canada as a whole (ââ¬Å"Aboriginal Mental Healthâ⬠: 2015). In fact, ââ¬Å"In Nunavut in particular, 27% of all deaths since 1999 have been suicides. This is one of the highest suicide rates in the world, and it continues to rise, especially among youth.â⬠(ââ¬Å"Aboriginal Mental Healthâ⬠: 2015) Among other factors, these suicide rates have much of their cause due to the physical environment and its effects on the biology of an individual living in this region. For example, in any given portion of Nunavut an Inuit individual can experience extremes like twenty four hours of daylight i n June to twenty four hours of darkness in December (ââ¬Å"Nunavut FAQââ¬â¢sâ⬠: 2017) . Other areas of Nunavut can experience more hours of light in the winter as opposed to during the summer months. This fact by itself can have drastic effects on the

Disruptive school students have a negative influence on others. Students who are noisy and disobedient should be grouped together and taught separately. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Answer It is generally accepted that some student making noisy and behave badly cause trouble and get effect negative in the class for others. As a result teacher and other students find difficulties to continue study with them. However, it seems to me that it is not a best solution to take these students out and grouped them for studying separately. If we do so, they are less likely to be considered as a good person in their future life and hardly recover from that bad reputation. Moreover, they are only limited to meet only friends having such bad behaviour and their mentality tends to become worse by copying each other. This can then also cause the problems for the society. We should find out their back ground reasons for doing so. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Disruptive School Students" essay for you Create order Perhaps their parents are divorced and this unfortunate family problem affects their mentality. Perhaps they need more attention from others in some ways. In addition, teacher or teaching method couldnââ¬â¢t motivate them while the lessons are boring. Some people argue that they should learn to put up with the boring environment and need to consider for the normal students who are being disrupted. Having discussed above situations, we should try to find out either a suitable class room management or a way of consultation for them to solve this problem rather than taught them separately.
